Helen Keller- http://www.nndb.com/people/074/000046933/ At only 19 months old Helen Keller was struck with scarlet fever which cost not only her hearing but her eyesight as well. This was a difficult obstacle for her so she expressed her anger by throwing temper tantrums, biting people, and breaking things. Her mother read an article about how one deaf girl was rehabilitated by Alexander Bell. She contacted him for special help to bring Helen back to being able to function on her own somewhat. Bell taught Helen to understand what people were saying by touching their lips and throat and signing words with her hands. In today’s age she could’ve used high DPI displays and hearing aids
Beethoven- http://www.helium.com/items/800651-the-legacy-of-ludwig-van-beethoven At the age of 40 music composer Beethoven became completely deaf. He couldn’t hear music but his ability to still compose world known pieces is astounding. He heard music with his mind and wrote it down, but the most important thing that got him through it was his courage and personal drive to achieve his destiny. Today, Beethoven could use hearing aids or use a keyboard and mouse to communicate with people.
Stevie wonder- http://rockyourbusiness.wordpress.com/2011/03/06/stevie-wonder-a-lesson-in-overcoming-adversity/ Stevie Wonder was born blind to a poor family in Saginaw, Michigan. But that never stopped him from making music. He couldn’t see but he taught himself to make music through hearing different sounds. To overcome this Wonder can use projectors to show fonts larger in black and white.
